The Copper Ridge Institute joins the care, education and research culture of Johns Hopkins with the dementia and long term care aspects of Copper Ridge, a long-term care facility for patients with Alzheimer’s and other dementing illnesses. This collaboration between Copper Ridge and The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is unique and has created one of the only “teaching long term care facilities” in the world.

The Copper Ridge Institute has the potential to impact not only the lives of those with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, but their families and professional caregivers as well. Our work involves developing evidence-based care methods, advancing research in age related issues, and teaching this new knowledge to health care professionals caring for persons with dementing diseases.

The 2008 Baron Scholar Program is a 40-hour training certification course offered by The Copper Ridge Institute. Benefits of attending include:

• Collaborating with a network of Alzheimer’s care-specific professionals

• Learning state-of-the-art education taught by nationally acclaimed experts

• Growing by enhancing your professional status with a “Train the trainer” certificate upon program completion
