The Copper Ridge Institute has produced a CD-ROM that will help train caregivers in the fundamental techniques they need to effectively care for people with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
The Dementia Care Certification Course is an interactive course that is divided into 9 modules, or areas of instruction. Each module takes about 20 minutes to complete. The participant can go through the entire course or if they are having a particular problem with a specific area of care, they can go directly to the part that deals with the issues they are facing. At the end of each module there is a test to measure the degree of learning that has occurred. Trainees can learn at their own pace, at any time.
The course is targeted for caregivers in assisted living, private homes and nursing homes.
