
Mrs. Steele received her BSN at Towson University followed by a Masters Degree in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, part-time at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Senior Faculty, the Copper Ridge Institute.
For over 25 years she has specialized in the nursing care of persons with cognitive disorders and their families. She has lectured internationally and published prolifically on management of behavior problems in persons with dementia and currently consults to long term care communities on program planning and behavior management. Her most notable publications include 2 books, Practical Dementia Care, eds. 1 and 2 and other peer reviewed papers on dementia care and research.
Mrs. Steele has received numerous awards for her clinical work including Clinician of the Year by the Maryland Gerontological Association, Health Care Hero of Maryland, and Excellence in Dementia Care from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
