The Copper Ridge Institute sponsors educational Grand Rounds the first Wednesday of each month and welcomes professionals from the community to learn more about important dementia related care topics.
Through the generous funding from a former Copper Ridge family, The Copper Ridge Institute has developed a one-week program of intensive training at Copper Ridge in Sykesville, Maryland. Participants will receive 40 hours of classroom-style teaching, one-on-one tutorials, and hands-on practica from experts in dementia care from Copper Ridge and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
The faculty of The Copper Ridge Institute are committed to providing access to their critically important research through published articles.
The Copper Ridge Institute has developed a dynamic CD-ROM training program that helps users fully understand the challenges of dementia and learn the most effective ways to approach dementia care. This program is ideal for training and orientation at long-term care facilities or educational institutions.
Note: For professionals in Maryland, this program and an additional CD companion learning program with expanded training in mental health issues was developed by the Institute and is approved to meet the requirements of the five-hour training course for new employees in assisted living facilities. For information on receiving the additional free CD companion learning program please contact us.
The Copper Ridge Institute Education at the Institute takes on many forms. We have established a sound comprehensive curriculum that addresses the needs of Alzheimer’s care. We can readily adapt the program based on the needs of a particular group. The Institute has been successful in classroom style teaching, for daily or week long practicums. Week long practicums have the advantage of including hands on clinical experience. At a facility’s request, we can design a curriculum to meet your training needs. Contact us to learn more.
