This week-long comprehensive program consists of 40 hours of intensive dementia care education at Copper Ridge, a long-term care facility for persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.  Attendees will receive both classroom education and hands-on pratica from experts in the fields of aging and dementia care. Instructors include staff from Copper Ridge, as well as faculty members from the Copper Ridge Institute, the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, University of Maryland, McDaniel College, and others. Our goal for all participants is that this training will enhance their ability to provide informed and respectful care that will help maximize the quality of life for individuals with dementia.

This past year’s the Advanced Training class consisted of 15 inividuals from across the East Coast. Here is what  they had to say about the program: “You have an excellent faculty who obviously have a passion for what they do.” “The practicums were a great learning tool that allowed the group to function in the (long-term care) environment.” “The program flowed very smoothly. Each course was long enough to learn the information that was presented and short enough to not be boring. The program kept my attention for the entire week. The presenters were all well-informed experts in their field.” “I received information to be more insightful into the evaluation of my own program. I appreciated gaining a greater glimpse into the mind, thoughts, and behaviors of those with Alzheimer’s and dementia. I now feel more comfortable relating to these individuals.”
